Charles Stross I tend to work on the principle that much humour relies on cognitive dissonance - on the foreground not matching the background, on the protagonist's response to a situation being inappropriate, and so on.
It's very important in a leadership role not to place your ego at the foreground and not to judge everything in relationship to how your ego is fed.
