It's been pretty tough the last week. I'm dealing with it. It has been getting worse as the game goes on. It was pretty tough today because we had a day game after a night game. You're playing twice in less than 10 hours.
The fans know and the Cardinals know that I want to be a Cardinal for my whole career. I love this city. The way that this city has embraced me and my family.
I would say it's the best base hit I've ever had in my career,
Izzy, I know he wanted to get that save right there, and he made a mistake. But we came out with a win, and everybody will forget about what happened.
We had to get a win for him to celebrate. I'm very sure before he retires he's going to shoot for that No. 1 record, because he always wants to be on top.
Whatever happens at the end of the day, as long as I glorify His name, that's what it's all about.
I like to eat Wheaties Fuel for breakfast with fresh fruit and egg whites. For lunch, I like to eat my wife's 'homerun chicken,' which is chicken, rice and vegetables, and for dinner I eat grilled steak or a couple of chicken breasts with rice and vegetables. During the day, I drink OhYeah! protein shakes as a snack.
Mike Matheny, Fernando Vina, Edgar Renteria, Mark McGwire and Darryl Kile... before he died. Those guys took me under their wing and taught me the way to play the game the right way.
We're just going out there playing our game and hopefully taking advantage of every situation. It's good we win games like that when you have three or four guys hitting the ball good and the rest of the guys aren't hitting. I would love to see what happens when everybody is hitting the ball.
I consider myself a line drive hitter with power. I just try to put my best swing on the ball every time.
I trust that I can hit a fastball, that I can hit any pitch they throw to me.
You have to find a way to win. You can't win with the long ball. You have to find a way to win, to do something, to create something, to hit and run, get a bunt, steal a base. That's what we did all year long and we carried on in the playoffs.
