Alexander Dubčekwas a Slovak politician and, briefly, leader of Czechoslovakia. He attempted to reform the communist regime during the Prague Spring but he was forced to resign following the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. Later, after the overthrow of the government in 1989, he was Chairman of the federal Czechoslovak parliament.
