St. Helena has a lot of confidence. They're playing good baseball. We had to put a number up in the first inning to put doubt in their mind. I don't know if we necessarily put doubt in their mind but it set the tempo for us.

He struggled early on as a sophomore offensively, but defensively he's been as smooth as any shortstop I've had. He's really a great defensive shortstop. Now, he's made himself into a better hitter, a better offensive player. He can do it all. He can run, he can throw, he can catch. He's very smart and he's a great hitter now.

(Leonard) pitched great. He had his usual stuff. He dominated and kept them off the scoreboard.

I figured we'd take on all challengers. I was hoping it would come down to (the St. Bonaventure) game, and it measured up to all of the hype.

St. Helena played a great game. They're going to do well. They are a much improved team from years past.

No excuses. We played as well as we could have. St. Bonaventure just played better.

We've just got to take it one game at a time. That's all we're looking at. I told the kids if we can throw strikes and play defense, we'll be in every game. It gives us an opportunity to win, and that's what we're hoping for.

We didn't go down easy. I think the kids were feeling the pressure, because every one was coming after us.

We take all comers. We won't back down to anyone. They proved they were the No. 1 team in the state for Division IV. I think we're right there with them. All streaks come to an end.

We need to be fundamentally sound. We need to throw strikes and play catch defensively to be successful.
