business commercial create entirely entity lawful music share users whether
Whether or not it is lawful for users to share music one on one, it is entirely different for a commercial entity to create a business that induces users to do that,
thinking numbers impact
We do not take into account the value of the stream. We see the number of streams as a measure of consumer demand, not the value. As it is, we think streams are under-monetized, and we are complaining loudly about that. If the value of a stream changes, we won't alter the count because we don't want to alter the history of the program because that would impact these milestone achievements.
changed streams
There will be no breakout. When we changed for the single, we never specified what the breakout for sales to streams were.
anywhere consumers enjoy listen music
Consumers should not be able to listen to any music or enjoy any movie anywhere without our approval.

Campus LAN piracy is not new, yet the problem has taken on new urgency. We know from past experience that bringing this problem to light can effect real change. We are hopeful that this new systematic program will yield even more positive results.

Nobody likes playing the heavy and having to resort to litigation. But when your product is being regularly stolen, there comes a time when you have to take appropriate action.
academic clear consequences continue corrupt network students theft
As long as students continue to corrupt this specialized academic network for the flagrant theft of music, we will continue to make it clear that there are consequences for these unlawful actions.
activity amount decrease fact illegal impression legitimate reflection sufficient
We've had the impression that there has been a decrease in the amount of illegal activity on many campuses but not all, ... That's a reflection of the fact that a legitimate alternative is not sufficient in and of itself.
coming constant continue far hopeful landscape last legitimate number offering programs progress promise remain schools services threat thrilled tremendous triple university within work
We are thrilled to see the number of schools offering legitimate services more than triple in the last year, and (we) remain hopeful that these partnerships will continue to flourish. At the same time, complacency looms as a constant threat to the tremendous progress we have made. As the landscape changes, so must the anti-piracy programs within the university community. There is much promise in the coming years, but our work is far from done.

We are appreciative of our partners in the university community and all they have done in recent years to tackle the problem of digital piracy at campuses across the country. Despite the progress achieved by our collaborative efforts, this remains an ever-evolving problem. We cannot ignore the growing misuse of campus local area network systems or the toll this means of theft is taking on our industry.

download files illegal mp3 people piracy post problem rio
The problem we had with the RIO was that it could exacerbate the MP3 piracy problem by encouraging more people to post illegal MP3 files and more people to download them.
resistance legislation approach
Industries are fearful of legislation. But if you start in the marketplace and forge a solution, you get a lot less resistance - and often a more flexible approach.
integrity years awards
10 years ago [in 2006], nearly 90 percent of those albums sold enough in that year to reach Gold status. 10 years later, about 30 percent were eligible. With the new rules, we figure about 40 percent of the top 200 best-sellers for the year will be eligible. We were very cautious in our approach to changing how we calculate what is eligible because the integrity of the process is our foremost consideration. It's difficult to get certified sales awards, and it's a big deal and we didn't want there to be a huge change in how many would be eligible.
