philosophy heart generosity

mean get-money making-money
I’m all about making money. It’s the greatest thing, because it means you get money to spend.
crazy sleep night
I have always looked at it this way: If you strive like crazy for perfection - an all-out assault on total perfection - at the very least you will hit a high level of excellence, and then you might be able to sleep at night. To accomplish something truly significant, excellence has to become a life plan.
casual changed concept design elements exciting originally remove
I didn't want to remove some of the exciting design elements to make it work. And then the concept changed to something a little more casual than we originally planned.
lived time turn
I don't want to turn 50 and say, 'Gosh, I wish I'd lived in that part of the world for a time. I wish I'd read that book by Faulkner.' I want time to delve back into Thoreau and Kafka.
entitled gets home man maybe raise time voice work
At home, a man is entitled to raise his voice maybe once a year, if something really gets under his skin. At work, it's different. I raise my voice all the time. Not out of malice, but to get things right. It's never personal.
american-celebrity felt mall people protesting
I couldn't really relate to the fraternity or party scene, to the people out in the mall every day protesting one thing or another. I felt like there was no one I could relate to.
brothers kick
I got on a Dostoyevsky kick right after college. I started with 'Crime and Punishment,' went on to 'The Possessed' and then 'The Brothers Karamazov' and 'The Idiot.'
call designer experts proven
I wouldn't call it designer food. It's more proven experts in the field.
cook high liked natural oven root slowly takes until
I've always liked root vegetables because most of them have a natural sweetness. They have a high fructose content, especially when you cook them and caramelize them in a saute pan. Or you can take a turnip and cook it slowly in the oven until it's browned, and it takes on a kind of sweetness. These vegetables are pretty easy to like.
considered desserts food
I have always considered desserts to be of equal importance to the savory food.
quarter running time
A quarter century of running a restaurant - that's a long time to do one thing.
finding moments prepare rabbit sliced slightly
improvisation is about finding your own voice. When you prepare a dish, even if you make the same one just moments later, the rabbit loin will be sliced a little bit differently, or the composition will be slightly different.
plan work
My plan is to work on a master's in philosophy.
