They're making them more like the trucks. The trucks push a giant hole in the air, and we can really race each other. That's what NASCAR wants with this car.

One thing that concerned me was seeing Ted (Musgrave) in my rearview mirror. I knew he was saving his truck to make a run at the end of the race.

I don't like my truck right now. I had a difficult practice today. Dave McCarty and the guys are making adjustments to make it better. I'm sure we'll be fine for the race once we are finished tweaking some things. Just right now the truck is not doing what we need it to do. Not only am I going to Daytona to test to get ready, for me I am going to get acclimated with a new crew chief. This will be our first time to work together. Been to the shop, but it will be the first at the racetrack.

Through the year, you only have one shot at Daytona. Your career is never complete unless you won at Daytona. It is weird that we haven't been then in a year, but man, when I drive though the tunnel in January, it's like magic.

Whatever the format, we need it. We've had some close championship battles, but we would have 10 guys in it instead of two or three. A Chase would be so much fun.

We found that a slick truck can also be on the edge in the draft. We found last year that we want a fair amount of drag on it because during the race, drag means grip. There's kind of a fine line. I think you want to build a truck that has a little bit of drag.
