The kid pitched very, very well. You couldn't ask for any more. Very impressive, the way he pitched. He deserves another shot.
These guys have to think about their futures and injuries. That's the game today. With this move, you'd want them to mentally accept it and want to do it. That's why I want them to ask me.
This is a key year for him, I think, for him to go back out there and back last year up with another solid year. There is no reason why he shouldn't be able to, barring some type of serious injury.
All I said to him was that you should have been able to call that. To me that's not arguing balls and strikes,
All I want him to do is work at it. Learn from his mistakes. Don't make the same mistake twice. So far he's putting the effort in. It's a slow process. It may take half the season, maybe the whole year.
All I wanted to know from him was, was he willing to play left field. He said he was ready to go, he wanted to get at-bats and get out there and play.
I think you have to ... take an MRI on every pitcher that you acquire in a trade or free agency - the elbows, knees and shoulders. That's the only way you're going to be able to look at the elbow and shoulder and knees, and get a pretty good idea of what's in there.
I think that would be something that would get our attention for the future at least. Why not? That's the only way you are going to be able to look up in the shoulder or the elbow itself, have a pretty good idea of what's in there.
If you have nothing to say then say it, ... It's no big deal. I can't get inside his head.
If you charge the mound, that's one or two games.
If you hit a ball well in this ballpark you can be rewarded. If you don't hit a dynamite ball in this ballpark -- in the big part of this ballpark -- you will not be rewarded. That's just the way this ballpark is. You take a chance when you get out to the bigger part of this ballpark. You take a chance.
It's the second day in a row in which he has come in a ballgame and has come head high -- up and in -- to a left-handed hitter,
It was right there for us the first three innings. We just didn't put Willis away.
It was a very well-played game. It all started with pitching and it all started with defense.
