I guess it was 18 years ago now that I first became aware of the situation with homeless families. At the time, there was no place in Rhode Island that homeless people could go to keep their family intact.

They need help right now. That means you have to intervene and make the process go along quicker. Not tomorow. Not go here, go there. They need help right now.

Whereas women generally value their appearance more than men, which can lead to 'retail therapy,' men value social recognition. Even though they're both trying to build self-esteem, they're coming at it from two very different directions.

There are some amazing stories that come out of the shelter but seldom do I ever think any of them to be about myself. I usually like to fly under the radar but I guess they got me this time.
