I think A lot of small businesses can go home on Friday night and come back to work on Monday and worry about it then, and a lot of large companies can't.

More important than this temporary alignment is the fact that the indicators are going in the same direction and have been doing so for several months. The Katrina period seems to have been the low point and we interpret the trend as the slow accommodation to the reality of higher oil prices. We also like seeing user expectations in line with vendor revenue forecasts.

In some really small businesses, it may be that your only computer guy will have to come in. Paying overtime for those people is a little more of a burden on the small company.

We think the sudden reversal of expectations was only partly the result of cooling thoughts about the future. The rest was a result of statistical variability in the sample polled as we indicated it might be last month.
