We were a lot more conscious of him. I think, to begin with, we were probably focused on (point guard) Baron Davis more than anybody, because he makes that team go.
He just talked to me briefly, and I could tell right away that we were going to get along.
I'm sure every team in the league goes through what we're going through. It's no different for us. The morale is not down, but we're trying to figure it out. ... I hate losing. I haven't really slept very well. It's good I got decent skin or you'd see all these bags under by eyes. It's not a good feeling right now. I'm eager to get a winning streak going.
I thought the call that was before that was sort of a cheap call. I just came down and was frustrated. By no means was I trying to hit a fan. If anything, I was trying to get a delay of game. Unfortunately, that happened. I apologized to the little girl and her father.
He has matured so fast. Probably because he's had no choice, given the position that he's in. He had to succeed. He had to be aggressive. It's been learn-as-you-go. He's handled it. He's maturing beautifully, and it's working out. So far, so good.
I wasn't going to feed into what you guys wanted me to say,
Good; I can talk some (trash) to him. That's probably the reason he's not returning my phone calls. It makes a lot of sense.
It's more me than him. I have to make sure that we are ready to play. It seemed like in the third quarter we didn't want to play. I had to come out of my element and speak on it but it took me out of my focus. But that's my responsibility.
I am happy that I can help make a difference in the communities, and blessed to be in the position where I am able to lend support.
I don't want to call it babysitting. I don't like always having to go there. We're professionals, and we're all men. It was just a select few (joking around after the game) but it is a team. I don't like to have to be responsible for the unknown, making sure guys are ready and then having to worry about my own personal ? that's not what I'm here for. I won't play that role.
He taught me to keep the guys together. The way you win championships is the chemistry you form with them off the field.
He was one of the very few people that I enjoyed being around.
I've always said I'll be in Minnesota as long as they want me. I don't think I can take another one of these rebuilding stages.
It's a great start, everything I anticipated. He was Ricky Davis tonight. He played great D. You know you're getting a high-energy player.
