I think it's the furthest thing from a distraction, I think it brings an excitement. We've played a lot of games in a short stretch here, and this should certainly be something that brings out a spark in us, no doubt about it.
coming community excited hope people watching work
People are coming up to us excited about watching hockey, excited for the community, excited for us. As players, that's what you want. You work hard, and you hope people will notice.

That's the last guy we're worried about. When he steps on the ice, we know he's going to be ready, we know he's going to fight and do everything he can. Those kind of nights happen.

When I woke up this morning -- I was glad it was this morning. When you have a game like that, you just pick up and move on.

This stings, but you know what? You just get back to work. There's a lot of character in this room, and maybe going on the road is not the worst thing that could happen to us.

We don't have the big names back there, but they've just played so well. When they're skating and jumping into the play, being physical, they're just a tough group. They really help the forwards when they jump into play, because they seem to create a lot of room for us.

We want everybody out there, and we miss the guys who are out, but there's a mentality in the room where we're focused on what's in front of us. It's just something that builds over the course of the year.

grocery guys knowing niche rink store trying
More than anything, when you go to a new team, it's just trying to get a feel for the guys and find your niche on the team. That's what's more important than X's and O's, it's getting comfortable with the city. Things like knowing where the rink is and where the grocery store is.
example matters perfect
Sometimes you're not at your best, but all that matters is two points. This was a perfect example.

I have to always bring the energy and bring what has gotten me here, and never forget that.

In training camp, people couldn't wait to say how bad we were going to be.

I'd have to see it on replay, but all I was trying to do was get to the front of the net and establish position. I didn't feel much of anything, and the puck was in the net, and then all the sudden, I see them waving, so it was frustrating.
