best central extremely fast girls played proud
Central is a solid, well-coached team. They're fast and extremely athletic. But our girls never did give up; they played their best and I'm proud of 'em.
followers good great guys key liking practice seniors step team year
I think the seniors will be key this year and they have to step up and be leaders. Most of our young guys are followers and they are good team guys. If the first practice was any indication, this team is going to have great chemistry. And liking each other can go a long way.
guys hit people practice ready room spring weight winter
Our guys have been in the weight room all winter and spring and they are ready to hit people and get the real practice started.
balls hit leaving
I was leaving balls up, and they hit them out of the ball park.
connection former grind knows whatever
That connection is already there because he's a former ballplayer. He knows what it's like day to day, what the grind is like. He's already been through whatever we'll face, and he can tell you how he got through it.
kept pressure quick score seemed time
We kept the pressure on them. Every time they had a quick inning, it seemed we'd come in and score two more.
ball dribble improved tendency
We started off kind of sloppy, but improved dramatically. We have a tendency to dribble the ball too much.
guys
We've got a two-run lead; you can't put guys on base, especially late.
afraid couple everywhere hustle hustled kids love pleased seemed
I was pleased with how the kids responded. I was afraid they would get out there and not hustle at all, but we only had to say something to them a couple times and I love that. They hustled everywhere they went. They seemed enthusiastic about starting.
faced facing felt good helped minor
(Harang) helped by botching up the first two pitches. Then, I was going for the strikeout. I felt good about facing Freel because I've faced him in the minor leagues.
ahead grew pressure
I can't look ahead in my position. I can't pressure myself. I want to be with these guys, though, because we all grew up together.
ball call changed face four given gone hitting kid pass plays quarter scoring second snap wrong
Four plays really changed the game. The fumble on the kickoff return; a pass interference call that was the wrong call in the second quarter that would've given us the ball in scoring position; the snap hitting our kid in the face when he was in motion; and that 80-yard touchdown run. If one or two of those had gone differently, we could've been right in the game.
bombing definitely invading
It would take them bombing us here, or invading us. Then I would definitely go.
against ballgame boys burnt coach coaches defense fine gotten half kept looked maybe night offense points proud ridiculous second side since smith stepped week worst yards
Our defense kept us in the ballgame all night long. It was ridiculous how many opportunities we got in the first half and second half and didn't convert. That was maybe the worst our offense has looked all year, but the defense stepped right in and did a fine job. Our defense got burnt for 53 points and about 400 yards against U.M.S. and every week since then they've gotten better and have improved. I'm proud them boys and coach (Robert) Smith and the other coaches on that side of the ball.
