I think I eventually want to teach first or second grade. I've always liked little kids, and it's been easy for me to relate to them. I don't think I'd want to teach middle or high school. I remember how I was then, and it doesn't seem like the older kids give young teachers much respect.

What was so striking about Joey was the fact that he helped reach out to other kids and tried to help them with living, whether or not they have this disease. I thought that was pretty exceptional. It showed an extreme amount of kindness on his part and courage and time and a lot of sacrifice.
