ball basket care driving easy knew lane matter open percent scoring second simple spreading steals strongly taking
About 50 percent of Mathews scoring comes off of pressure, getting steals and getting easy baskets at the other end. We knew we had to take care of that. Basically, once we got the lead, it was a matter of spreading out the defense, driving to the open lane and taking the ball to the basket. We really didn't take the ball to the basket strongly in the first half. Those were two simple adjustments we wanted to make in the second half.
ball foot good jamie sees strong
Jamie has some good foot speed. When she sees the gap, she can take the ball strong to the hole.
ball cutting difference disrupt flow game good grand handling night quarter trying unusual valley
This was an unusual night for us. Normally, we're not a good foul-shooting team. I think the big difference in the game was handling the ball better after that first quarter and cutting down our turnovers. Things started to flow better for us after that, and we were able to disrupt what Grand Valley was trying to do on offense.
