angels balls complete expected good ground strikes threw throw
He threw a lot of strikes and got a lot of ground balls. I really expected him to throw a complete game. But the Angels have an awfully good ballclub and you have to keep them down when they are down.
center expected gave heck hoped jeremy
Offensively, I think we hoped for a little more out of Jeremy and I know he expected a lot more from himself. Defensively, he gave us more than we expected. He's going to get better at the plate, but he showed us he can play the heck out of center field.
expect griffin rick
Realistically, probably not. (Trainer) Rick Griffin is working with him, and he doesn't expect it to be anything good.
blessed cursed entire expect face fact meet realize walks
I think every day he walks out and you look at his face you realize you expect too much out of him because he's only 19 years old. He's going to be cursed and blessed his entire career. There are going to be big expectations for him. He's blessed in the fact that he probably can meet those expectations more times than not. It's kind of a double-edged sword.
absolutely anybody expected forward starts thrown watching
The way he's thrown and the starts that he's had have been absolutely outstanding. He has been better than we really expected him to be. Like anybody else, when he's on the mound, I look forward to watching him pitch.
ability adjust baltimore expect game himself knowledge maturity onto realize says time walks
Every time he walks out and you look at his face, you realize you expect too much out of him. He's only 19 years old. But even today, he showed an ability to adjust and get back onto his game. The first two innings, he was not on his game at all. To adjust the way he did and to keep Baltimore where they were as long as he did, says a lot about his maturity and his knowledge of himself as a pitcher.
options soon ways
It's too soon to say A, B, C and D are going to happen. We have different options and different ways to go.
eddie pitches spring threw
Eddie threw more pitches in that inning than he did all spring training.
chunk took
It took a chunk out of the back of his finger.
difference left pitches turned
Hernandez left two pitches up in the zone, and that turned out to be the difference in the game.
guns people problem rather swinging swung walks wonder
After the walks some people will wonder why Carl swung at the first pitch, but I didn't have a problem with it. We had one of our big guns at the plate. I'd rather have him swinging there.
couple early good missing threw
He was rushing, he was missing his spots. He threw a couple of good pitches, then he'd get away from it. It's still early in the season.
light second somebody switch turned
He had a 14-pitch first inning and a 38-pitch second inning. It's like somebody turned the light switch off.
anyone certainly defender good hard model plays role tremendous wants
He's a good player. He's a good hitter, a good defender and a good baserunner. He also plays hard all the time. He certainly is a tremendous role model for all our young players, or anyone else who wants to watch.
