control innings talk
I'm not going to talk about the umpire. Let's talk about something we can control, ... The first two innings were very non-typical of his outings this year.
against batting considered happen intrigued managing realm since talk unless
I've always been intrigued by Ichiro batting third. I was when I was managing against him, and I have been since I've been his manager. It's not out of the realm of possibility that it could happen (someday). There's nothing like that being considered now. And there won't be, unless I talk to Ichiro first. And that's not on the calendar.
days drop innings kid limit remains rotation settled skip talk throwing
How we're going to limit his innings remains to be seen. We can drop him down in the rotation ... when we have days off, we can skip his turn. There's a lot of things we can talk about. We haven't settled on any one strategy; it may be a combination of plans. But the one thing is that we don't want this kid going out there throwing 250 innings.
certainly coming side spring talk
If you talk to Jeremy, he'll tell you that offensively he's disappointed. He certainly was not what we had anticipated coming out of Spring Training, but on the other side of it, defensively he has been outstanding, more than what we had anticipated.
caught indecisive land saw talked
I think he was a little indecisive once he saw the ball. We have talked to him. He just got caught out in no-man's land and couldn't get back.
options soon ways
It's too soon to say A, B, C and D are going to happen. We have different options and different ways to go.
eddie pitches spring threw
Eddie threw more pitches in that inning than he did all spring training.
chunk took
It took a chunk out of the back of his finger.
difference left pitches turned
Hernandez left two pitches up in the zone, and that turned out to be the difference in the game.
guns people problem rather swinging swung walks wonder
After the walks some people will wonder why Carl swung at the first pitch, but I didn't have a problem with it. We had one of our big guns at the plate. I'd rather have him swinging there.
couple early good missing threw
He was rushing, he was missing his spots. He threw a couple of good pitches, then he'd get away from it. It's still early in the season.
light second somebody switch turned
He had a 14-pitch first inning and a 38-pitch second inning. It's like somebody turned the light switch off.
anyone certainly defender good hard model plays role tremendous wants
He's a good player. He's a good hitter, a good defender and a good baserunner. He also plays hard all the time. He certainly is a tremendous role model for all our young players, or anyone else who wants to watch.
anticipate baseball catch experience good number people players taking time
I don't anticipate it taking him a long time to catch up. Kenji is a good baseball player, number one, and it has been my experience that good players know how to get people out.
