Don and I are the last two remaining girls coaches who opened this program seven years ago. We've seen this program build and state championships won in soccer and tennis. We said, 'Wouldn't it be great to happen for us, as well.' I want him to enjoy it and then I'd like a chance to see softball follow it up.

Katie still pitched a great game. The cold weather made her a little tight in the sixth inning, but she was still able to work out of the jams.

Katie was ready to go (Thursday). She got into a groove early and started hitting her spots and pitching stronger as the games progressed.

When she's on, she's tough to hit. I don't think this was her best stuff. She pitched well when she needed to.

We've been playing a lot of games and the girls have been battling. The sticks haven't been as heavy as they were in the beginning, but part of that is teams are learning how to play us a little bit.
