He's worked hard, and nobody gave him anything. He's in there working at getting stronger, working on his mechanics and trying to improve. He's didn't rest on the fact that he had a good season last year, he went out and tried to get better and, in the end, I think he did.

He was dominant, and we told him, when he gets ahead of hitters, he's going to be dominant. He was ahead in the count a lot of the day, and you could see that they weren't taking good swings at him.

He's a very mature kid, throwing in the upper 80s and hitting 90, and he has that physical ability. He's also a tough competitor, he's always under control ... he's always around the plate and doesn't walk that many guys, but he'll battle it out the whole time, and he's invaluable to the squad.

We kind of built for this year. My first year we played a lot of sophomores in the hope they would all come and we'd have a chance this year. With Tommy and Paul, we have two good pitchers. We have a shot at least.
