thinking careers pops
When my pop career was over, I was scratching my head, thinking, "God, how am I going to do something after I'm forty?" I was in my mid-thirties, thinking I was on the scrap heap.
generating margin profit small sold store track
We do make a small margin on each track that's sold at the store. But because it's Coke, there isn't a requirement for the store to be generating a profit for the store to operate.
direct hard songs work
I work very hard on getting the songs ... direct and examined,
number offensive pressure
We know they'll put pressure on us and, number one, we have to be able to rebound. We especially have to keep them off the offensive boards.
along germany gigs learning people spent
All those years we'd spent learning these chops, and all those gigs in Germany where you'd play all night, and along comes punk. It has nothing to do with that. A lot of people went out of business.
basketball beat best central credit four good played prepared quarters tonight
I give Central all the credit in the world. They battled. They put four quarters together. We know we're always going to get Central's best effort. They were prepared tonight and played hard. We beat a good basketball team.
breaking glass lonely love noises sound
I love the sound of breaking glass Especially when I'm lonely I need the noises of destruction When there's nothing new
ball basketball foul free job line man nice pounding taylor trouble
They did a very nice job of pounding the ball inside. We were in foul trouble in there, and Taylor was a man tonight. He did a nice job of, even when he didn't score, going to the free-throw line and making his free throws.
names way comfort
I use the name and the thought very, very easily as a sort of comfort - as a kind of comfort, in some way. And in that way, it's just like having a friend, I suppose.
wall doors radio
My latest theory is that it's - well, I describe it as, like, being in an apartment with kind of thin walls. And in the apartment next door, they've got a radio tuned constantly on - tuned to a really cool radio station. It's on all the time. And you can just hear it coming through the wall all the time.
night zurich tv-shows
found myself in Zurich Airport. I'd done a TV show, oddly enough, with Mavis Staples. That's the way they do it in Switzerland. And I'd had a bit of a late night with members of her band. And I was - my flight was delayed. And I was sitting in the airport, and I just came up with the idea. And by the time, we landed at Heathrow, I'd pretty much sort of got it.
jesus philosophy nice
I don't have the faith now. I certainly believe in Jesus - you know, that he existed and he was a very nice man. And who can disagree with a simple philosophy of treat other people like you'd like to be treated yourself? It's absolutely - nothing I can disagree with that.
jesus opportunity night
You know, where have you - what have you been doing? You know, and you find yourself sitting next to Jesus, and he's rather an agreeable man. And you have an opportunity to say, so what went down then, you know, that night? And it's supposed to be like him just sort of telling you very conversationally. That was the idea I had. Whether it - whether it comes - came off or not, I don't know.
stars years people
I realized sometime in the early '80s that if I didn't do something - like planning for the future in a way, a kind of pension or something - that if I didn't do something there and then, I was going to be condemned to forever present my three years as a pop star, condensed, as a stage act for the rest of my life. Because that's normally what happens to people in the pop business.
