Omar Yaghi
Omar M. Yaghiis a Jordanian-American chemist, currently the James and Neeltje Tretter Chair Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley. His most recognizable work is in the design and production of new classes of compounds known as metal-organic frameworks, zeolitic imidazolate frameworks, and covalent organic frameworks. MOFs are noted for their extremely high surface areas and very low crystalline densities. He has successfully developed these materials from basic science to applications in clean energy technologies including hydrogen and...
hydrogen material store
We can store significantly more hydrogen with the MOF material than without the MOF.
achieved ambient hydrogen material percent store
We have achieved 7.5 percent hydrogen; we want to achieve this percent at ambient temperatures. We can store significantly more hydrogen with the MOF material than without the MOF.
above change class clear components discovery exciting identified materials nearly path percent reporting seven using weight
We have a class of materials in which we can change the components nearly at will. There is no other class of materials where one can do that. The exciting discovery we are reporting is that, using a new material, we have identified a clear path for how to get above seven percent of the material's weight in hydrogen.
