It was definitely a slow scoring start for us. I looked up (at the scoreboard) and we hadn't scored and there were 3 1/2 minutes gone off the clock. ... Thankfully we got that little spurt at the end of the first quarter.

It's hard to play when your leadership is off the floor. You try to play it smart but you get young kids on the floor who aren't used to being in those situations.

I was on Cloud 9 that night. I was very pleased with how they played and how hard they worked. I knew it was going to be a gut check having to play back-to-back.

I was a little concerned when I looked up and there was 6:20 on the clock an Courtney had two fouls. I thought it was going to be a long night. ... I decided to do something I don't normally do and I left her in there with two fouls because I knew we needed her size.

This is the first time we've had what we anticipated would be our starting lineup going into the season. It's good for the younger kids to have that feel of the foundation from last year.

When you look back at our records, it really has been a step each year, a little progression each year. As we've gone along, we've worked at fixing the little things that make a difference in the game, understanding the lessons that come from each loss.

We made some mistakes. There's only so many timeouts you can take to try to calm (the players) down, to get them to focus.
