command contact dictates hitter pitches using
He is a contact guy, but he can also get some batters out using the strikeout. Basically, his command of his pitches dictates where the hitter makes contact. You like to have that in a pitcher.
ben coming communication nick pick saw
I think Ben saw Nick coming out, and there was no communication. Nick thought he was going to pick it up. I think we got a little tentative and we didn't even have a play.
baseball finish hand hold level men playing rather staff start understanding until
I think I would rather hold back on the celebration until mid?September. It's not always now we start but how we finish that's important. Myself and my staff and these young men as they start getting an understanding of playing baseball at the professional level and if they do that they'll have success. They go hand in hand.
seems touches work
(Johnston) has been hot. Anything he touches right now seems to work out for him.
far fortunate games job keeping nice pitching pressure season staff
We have been fortunate so far this season in the weather; typically we have to go through more games like this early. But I think we did a nice job of keeping the pressure on their pitching staff all night.

We get one (out), but it kinda opened the flood gates.
break hit home less moving runners runs season
We aren't going to hit home runs day in and day out. It is going to be the little things that are going to make or break this season for us, moving runners over, getting runners in from (third base) with less than two outs. Those are the things we need to do.
far finish good guy moved versatile
He is just a versatile guy that can be moved around and used in any situation. Right now, he is our guy to finish games. I think so far he has done a pretty good job.
came executing last plan season shine year
He didn't shine the way he wanted to last year (at Eugene). But he came into this season with a plan and he is executing things.
gonna guys last missed pitches
Guys missed some pitches to hit. In the last two weeks, we really haven't. That's gonna happen.
ball becomes double game knowing major nice people seems understanding
I always wondered, well could you go from A ball to the Major Leagues? It seems like a long stretch. Most people feel the game really becomes a game from Double A up. You've got more prospects, more of an understanding of the game. I think it was nice to be considered, knowing I still have a possibility to go from A ball to the Major Leagues.
full guts guys hanging kept night played
We showed some guts all night. We kept them hanging around. We probably could have pitched a little better, but the guys played the full game, that's for sure.
adjusted against bats gotta guys inside night pitch swung
You gotta be able to pitch inside to have effectiveness. Especially we've got some big guys that, (Tuesday) night, we swung the bats pretty well against them. They probably adjusted and said, 'We're going to pitch inside.' Everybody's got to do it.
aggressive breathing came charge coming early gave josh pitch ready runs swinging talked took
We talked about coming ready to pitch and play, and I think that was the difference. Josh came out and took charge of the game. We came out aggressive swinging the bats, put some runs up early and that gave us some breathing room.
