He is a contact guy, but he can also get some batters out using the strikeout. Basically, his command of his pitches dictates where the hitter makes contact. You like to have that in a pitcher.

This is just how it's materialized guys picking each other up. If somebody doesn't come through or get the hit, it seems like the next guy is picking him up. It's 25 guys collectively, and so far, we've been able to ham and egg that.

Myself and my staff and these young men as they start getting an understanding of playing baseball at the professional level and if they do that they'll have success. They go hand in hand.

We have been fortunate so far this season in the weather; typically we have to go through more games like this early. But I think we did a nice job of keeping the pressure on their pitching staff all night.

You gotta be able to pitch inside to have effectiveness. Especially we've got some big guys that, (Tuesday) night, we swung the bats pretty well against them. They probably adjusted and said, 'We're going to pitch inside.' Everybody's got to do it.

We aren't going to hit home runs day in and day out. It is going to be the little things that are going to make or break this season for us, moving runners over, getting runners in from (third base) with less than two outs. Those are the things we need to do.
