We acknowledge that fact that the base (salary) for the lowest paid officer is fairly low, but it creates employment. If we raise it then employers will make use of technology instead.

The employers are very relieved we managed to reach an agreement with the bulk of the unions. There was some very good, mature negotiating and at the eleventh hour we got an agreement both the employer and unions are happy with.
