check felt game leaves mentally needed organized picking plan sort sure
They all felt that they've been well prepared, well organized and that the game plan was appropriate and that they needed to check in mentally and emotionally to go and execute. I'm not sure where that leaves you at the end of the day as a coach. You're still sort of picking straws.
delivered explained needed opportunity player rules second within
As it was explained to me, he didn't think a second player delivered another hit. It was an explanation I have to live with. We needed an opportunity to play 5-on-3, and I thought within the rules we should have had it.
certainly expect himself needed offensive player secured spark stage unit
Did we expect him to be on our No. 1 power-play unit at this stage of the season? Maybe, but only as an interim thing or if we needed a spark or whatever. Certainly he's secured himself as an offensive player on our team.
nailed question rise
He nailed the big one. The question was, can he rise to the big game? And he did.
minutes team
In the first 10 minutes something was amiss with our team and our approach. We got it going finally, but at the end of the day the better team won.
humiliated lost ourselves poise simple team today
It's a team that lost their poise and their composure, simple as that. ... We humiliated ourselves here today and we embarrassed ourselves.
angles blue cut extend finally moments net portion shots
He may not have been in the blue (paint) when the shots finally came, but there were moments when he was in the blue paint. And as a goaltender, there's no way that you're going to be able to come out and cut down angles and take away a portion of the net if you're not able to extend yourself.
chosen deal kevin nature pick reasons sorts year
You can pick all sorts of reasons out why we're doing all right this year and I can tell you Kevin Weekes has really contributed to that whole thing by the nature of how he's chosen to deal with the situation.
net pushed quite rebound sure tough
I'm not so sure we pushed the envelope, quite honestly. When you don't make it tough for the opponent, it's not real tough to defend. We didn't have a lot of net drive. We didn't have a lot of rebound opportunities.
dice great group philosophy players secured
It's terrific, it's great for this group of players and for the organization that rolled the dice with this philosophy. There's a sense of accomplishment that we've secured a spot.
flag nights ready wave white
I'm not ready to wave the white flag on . We will have better nights than tonight.
developing game home hope identified plays reputation solid team tough whether
I hope we're developing a reputation as a team that's tough to beat, whether at home or on the road. I hope that we're being identified as a team that plays a responsible game without the puck, that we are solid from the goaltender out.
degree generate guess hoped might speaks sure
You try to generate some things that might be able to give you a push, I'm not sure we got it to the degree that we hoped to. Then again, we lost, so I guess that speaks volumes.
might
It was not pretty. That might be the understatement of the year.
