beauty equality gave intellect looked parity people pride realize recognize respect sell white
What he looked for was parity and equality and respect, and I think that he did get. Now, the respect, yes, I don't know if we have the parity and the equality because there are still advertisers who don't think of Ebony. There are still advertisers who don't think of Jet. Where we have to go in and sell them and re-sell them constantly, constantly, but I think it's the respect of the white community, that's what he wanted. I want people to realize what he did for African-Americans; he gave us a face. He made people recognize the beauty in us, the intellect in us, and also the pride that we have.

effective extremely kicking line offensive past red
In years past, the offensive line hasn't been big here, but they've been extremely effective in the red zone. So you can't say that's the reason. They weren't big before and they were kicking butt.
asserting forcing given jim knew line offer opinion side stayed willing
That just wasn't Jim Haslam. He was always willing to offer an opinion but never forcing you to do something or asserting a given opinion. He knew where that line was and stayed on the right side of it.

bebop call changes child chord funk fusion group hooks horn lines people
People used to call us a funk band. But it was a little more complicated than that. We were a fusion group made commercial. We had a lot of progressive chord changes and bebop horn lines and then hooks that a child could sing.
adam anyone athlete believe came character chris coach coaching family great heard knew line matt players proven represent staff suggested
Chris also suggested Adam Shakelford as a line coach and so we had our coaching staff in place. Then we had to get players. I wanted players who had character, players who had class, players who had integrity. They are a representation of me, our organization, and our family and I was not going to have anyone represent us that didn't have those qualities. Even if a great athlete came in, if he had a character flaw, he was gone. Matt Sauk was our first transaction. When I heard he wanted to play for us I couldn't believe it! He is a quarterback that I knew could get us where we wanted to go. He was a proven quarterback. Coach Petrino (University of Louisville) called and recommended him.

defensive five four games goals happy helped lines period teams third wearing
I was happy with the play of the team, especially with our defensive play. To give up five goals in four games is a real accomplishment for this team. We have been able to play all four lines most of the time, and I think that has really helped us in the third period wearing teams down.
event exceeded goal line students waiting
The event went really well, and we exceeded our goal of 60 pints. We had students waiting in line to donate.
bottom changed decision dramatic everybody good involve limited line number people perspective resigned upset
I've resigned myself. Everybody has had to resign themselves. We've been told it's not going to change. A lot of people are upset at the limited number of tickets, a good number of people. They changed something that was a traditional thing. Our perspective is that it's always been at the Coliseum. If they make such a dramatic change, the decision should involve the students. The bottom line is, it's our ceremony.
