nights stay surprised works
I wouldn't say it surprised me, but you have to stay ready. On nights like this when you get the opportunity, you want to be ready. Sometimes it works for you and sometimes it doesn't.
deal
I wouldn't say I'm surprised. You just deal with it.
comforting starters
It's very comforting to look in today's starters and see his name.
expect played tough win
It was not very well played by us. It is tough to expect a win when we don't play very well.
last time tonight won
Every day's pretty big from here on out. It's unfortunate Oakland won tonight and we lose, but it probably won't be the last time that happens.
early normally speculate works
It is a little early to speculate or for this to be an issue. You don't have the 3-4 at-bats that you normally would so if I get up, I'll just try and be aggressive. That works for me anyway.
defense doubt fun plays
There is no doubt about it. It is a big situation, a big game, a fun game. It is fun to play defense like that and make big plays for your pitcher.
ball life seen tough
We've seen him have a lot of life on his ball before, with that tough cutter. He didn't have it today. ... He still battled, but he did not have a lot on the ball.
