It is the height of hypocrisy for George Bush and others to mourn a human rights leader and scorn the movement she represents. It's ironic that someone who supports wiretapping will be here among the people who were victims of wiretapping in the 1960s.
The civil rights movement and the peace movement was not made from big names ... and I wanted to come on the anniversary with ordinary people that are doing what I think Dr. King would have wanted us to do today.
It is good that one guy resigned. But we don't want resignations. We want arrests. We want prosecution.
It seemed like what he ignored was the weapons of mass destruction in America -- broken levees in New Orleans are weapons of mass destruction, Mr. Bush.
From racial profiling and being pulled over just for 'driving while black' to this new phenomenon of killing unarmed people out of some preconceived idea of fear, our lives and our children's lives are not being valued.
I think that one of the responsible ways of making decisions is to talk to the people that you both have struggled with. We want to see Bush defeated, but we also want to see our constituency dealt with. And how that will play out, we'll know in the next day or so.
