How do you find words for what this means? ... This has been some of the greatest memories I've ever had on a tennis court.
Listen, with the state of my ankle right now, there's no chance for me to be able to play again,
The wear and tear of the clay-court season is something that has set me back in the past in terms of the grass-court season, and the grass is something that I don't want to miss again.
The third and fourth set, I felt I was a bit living on the edge with my serve. He was getting a lot of good swings at it, had me under a lot of pressure. But the fifth, I had a few good easy hold games and started to relax a little bit more and hit my spots a little bit better, so that helped me to relax on my return games, as well.
I couldn't really hit balls for a month at least due to my ankle. You come back, try to get ready in a hurry and you force it and things just don't respond if you try to do it too soon.
How she helps me is with understanding the subtleties required to accomplish this task,
Andre was for a time fighting his own personal battles, whatever they were, and wasn't putting his whole heart into the tennis. The way I see it in his eyes, this is just frosting.
James is a guy that runs on high octane, ... He's a fighter jet. He burns the fuel fast and furious, and he's gotten much better with that over the years. But he plays so big and he's so fast that if an edge does come off, it's a big relief. ... When he comes down into just warp speed, it gives you a little breath of life.
It would be great to win, but I have no interest in putting a nice little bow around my career and handing it over to anybody,
I thought maybe if I tape it and I support it maybe I could push through, ... But the foot went to the outside and down. So on the outside three ligaments were gone and on the inside I had the compression of the bone hitting bone, so I have a bone bruise on the inside.
I really, really want to. I plan on it. I'm optimistic about it.
It felt good, it was pain free. I've just got to run faster now, that's all.
This is going to continue for a long time. Schools and hospitals ... this is something we need to stay with for the long haul.
Pretty amazing. I don't know if I can put in context how this compares with some of my greatest experiences on the tennis court, but I know it's right up there, because this is what you work so hard for.
