This is one of the most exciting things to happen in my 20 years in tennis.
The momentum Robby had going into the fifth, to me, you never know, it might be last set I play here at U.S. Open.
He outplayed me in the fourth. I was hoping to do something different in the fifth and it felt great.
I was just out of sorts. I think I was still in the locker room there in the first set. I knew it could only get better from there as far as my standard went. I think he got a little careless in the second, allowed me to settle in a little bit more.
There's no matches you get through unless you're playing sensibly. You have to,
James is an easy guy to like and he's an easy guy to root for,
You need to play the craziest tennis you've ever played or he needs to be doing something off because you have to do it for such a long period of time.
Gil has helped me make decisions that have put me in a position to still be out here letting my game be the most it can be. There's a lot of people who have to sacrifice for me to still be able to do this, and there's a lot of trust that goes into that.
It's very sticky. It stops and everything else moves, ... It's hard to have confidence. Then when you try a little bit, it's still painful...I was just getting worse. It's not ready.
The challenge is real simple. Most people have weaknesses and most people only have one great shot. Federer doesn't have weaknesses and has a few great shots. So that equates to a problem. You hit it in that corner and that corner and that corner and that corner, over and over again, and you beat him. But you got to do it.
Obviously, you never know when it's your last go, ... I mean, I certainly have no plans one way or another. But I've been around long enough to know how short-lived all of this is.
You never know when somebody comes of age or game, ... Some people, it happens a lot earlier than others. ... There's no question he's doing something better than he used to do.
Once I got the break, I got into a better rhythm in the second set. He did not serve a high percentage of first serves in and I was returning well.
I just have a lot to be thankful for inside those lines, and certainly outside those lines as well, ... I'm more motivated now than ever to go out there and figure out a way through the battle.
