There are a lot of things we need to clean up before we get to the regular season. We just got to knock some of the rust off. There are certain things I was very happy with, and there are other things we need to polish up.
When you get on a roll, like we have been on in the past, I would say that the concentration level is at an extreme. It needs to be better and the obvious things are the penalties. You have to focus in on those things, on the technique, concentrate on the snap count and make sure you are not lined up in the neutral zone and those types of things.
There are a couple of reasons. On a couple of them, they've been overloaded on that side, and that got us into a little trouble. There have been some guys that have just come free, and we need to block better. We will get that straightened out.
With David's situation, we're looking at some other kickers to bring in here, just in case he can't perform.
We will look at all phases and we will make sure we learn from the experience and we take the good from it and try to get better as a football team. With the character of players I have here, I know it will take place.
We will let the young guys play and see what they can do. Then we will make a decision after that. I have been pleased up to this point with the backs, and we will see how things go here.
We will know a lot more in the next 48 hours.
We will have to make a potential roster move down the road here,
We thought he was a good college player. Jim Harbaugh was his coach down there, so we had a little bit of insight. He's a big kid that had pretty good numbers at that level and we wanted to give him a shot.
We're not on vacation. We're down here to play a football game.
T.O.'s a good person. I'm concerned about when T.O. and I are face-to-face and talking, ... Things happen in this business. You work through it, and that's what we did.
We just have to see how it works out in the next day or two. When you deal with that area, you have to take all the precautionary measures.
We had a couple of injuries and didn't play too well. We need to all be better, starting with me. That's the part that needs to be taken care of. Every individual needs to get a little bit better. Good things will happen when that takes place.
We liked him as a defensive end coming out. He played linebacker in Pittsburgh and we asked him if he was interested in putting his hand down and playing defensive end again and he liked that. We thought he was a heck of a player coming out of Florida State.
