It was a tough year. I give my kids credit. The (MAC) White division is so physical. The second time through the league is just brutal. I couldn't be more pleased with my kid's performance all year.

I think for everything there is probably a right time, and its normally pretty difficult to define what that right time is, ... To me, this is the right time and the reasons are pretty simple.

I can't root for that game, so I can't pick a winner. ... But it's not surprising. Dan's done an incredible and amazing job at Iowa State. That victory was not a fluke.

We spent a lot of time looking backward, and that was out of necessity. What has taken place is we've worked very diligently and hard collectively, our staff and our players, to define exactly what the issues were from this past season.

The other 10 guys need to give him some help. We've got a lot of talent at other positions, and to make that kind of commitment to one guy can be somewhat risky.
