decision glad help
I'm just glad he made the decision to go out there and help us out, help us win.
great turned
I had no idea what he was going to do. It's a great thing, because we need him to play. We need him in the lineup. ... It could have turned into a big distraction.
country guys represent teammates
I'm very honored. Just to represent your country and play with these guys as my teammates is amazing.
change compared couple hopefully last open
Hopefully we will come out and do well and open some eyes. It's a change for us compared to the last couple of years.
chance eyes kid open star struggle total
He's one of those kids. You know when a kid's got talent, but a lot of times you see 'em struggle with new surroundings. In his case, it was the total opposite. He's a kid who, if he doesn't open your eyes, your eyes are shut. He has a chance to be a star in this game.
control goes hear stuff worry
I know you hear this a lot, but this is what we're taught: Only worry about what you can control. And all we can control is what's on the field. The stuff that goes on away from the field, you just can't worry about that.
four
It's the first year. Four years from now a lot of things will be different.
caught hard worry
It's frustrating. It's hard not to get caught up in it. But we really can't. We have to worry about on-field stuff, because we're not the ones making the decisions.
field good guy hard himself impressed kid major success
It's hard to think he is still only 21 years old. You've got to be impressed with him on the field and off the field the way he handles himself. When a guy comes up like that and he is a good kid and handles himself well you know he is going to have a lot of success in the major leagues.
easy general leave managers players position spring understand
It's very easy to understand the position of general managers and coaches. They just don't want your players to leave spring training.
half race
You could see in the first half how we responded to that. We were in this race.
drive job runs
You want to be the man, you want to drive in runs for the team. To make a long story short, I just didn't get the job done tonight.
ask ball diego game innings matter pitch pitchers san short stuck whatever
If you give him the ball, it doesn't matter what you ask him to do -- he's going to go out there and do it. The San Diego game stuck out where it was, 'Here you go. Take the ball and pitch as many innings as you can. Whatever happens, happens. We are short on pitchers right now.' Rauch has a big heart. He is here to win.
continue couple days helps second success sure time year
If you play a lot at the end of the year and you had a couple of days off here and there in the first half, I'm sure it helps you out a little bit, ... But as long as you continue to play every day, you still are going to get tired. This is first time I've had success in the second half. I'm doing more than I figured.
