forward goalkeeper looking starting time
This is the first time he'll be our starting goalkeeper so I know he's really looking forward to the challenge.
concentration foolish football game giving good half minutes opening poor second smart
After 45 minutes of good concentration and smart football we started the second half very poorly. Giving the game away in the opening kickoff of the second half was very foolish and very poor play on our part.
ability award commitment dedication fact factor game key large leadership moments saves success testament throughout winner
His leadership and ability to make saves at key moments in a game were a large factor in our success during the qualifying campaign. The fact that he is the only three-time winner of the award is a testament to the consistency, commitment and dedication he has displayed throughout his career.
based decisions evaluate fact good group liked move played players point road rule three
These are just opportunities to evaluate players as we move forward, but you don't make decisions based on one game. Generally, as a rule of thumb, if you get a point on the road in qualifying, it's a pretty good result. The fact that we played with a new group this game, the result's OK. Would we have liked three points? Sure. But that's the way it is.
extremely games goal last main obviously round
Obviously our main goal has been accomplished. However, the last two games in this round are extremely important, not only from a competitive aspect, but also in evaluating players.
lack respect
I think there is a lack of respect for our soccer.
basically challenge deal everybody known lesser particular rather written
I'd much rather have this challenge than having to deal with lesser known countries. The challenge we have in particular ... everybody has basically written us off.
cap experience fantastic finished five good great group home name nice six team top win wins year
It was a good win and good experience for a lot of players. I've been told that we finished first in the group, which is nice, but wasn't critical. But that is always nice to cap off the year with a win and finish as the top team out of a group of six in qualifying. That's a great accomplishment for our group. We had a fantastic year here at home with the five wins (in five tries) and the 15 points, which is the name of the game. Great year.
build continue experience forward guys hopefully move towards
It was an important experience for our young guys and hopefully we can continue to build as we move forward towards the World Cup.
group tough
Any group we're going to be in is going to be a tough group.
field half parts second sloppy
I think the first half we were a little sloppy in different parts of the field, but I think in the second half we were much more solid. Obviously, we could have scored more goals.
anybody challenge field games good great mental paper team teams time training win
Our challenge is a pretty great one. This time around, I like our team on paper better than 2002, but you don't win games on paper. On the field is how the teams will be judged. ... With a good training camp, good preparation games and the right mental approach, this will be a team that will challenge anybody in the World Cup.
difficult heck last looked time worse
As difficult as it looked last time around, I think it's going to look a heck of a lot worse this time around. I think it's going to look very challenging and it will be very challenging.
certainly close efforts fans fitting front game great held hopeful last match pleased process qualify supported supporting tradition
It's only fitting that our last game in 2005 is being held in a place that has such a great tradition of supporting U.S. Soccer. We are certainly hopeful that this match will be a celebration of our efforts to qualify for the World Cup, and we're pleased to close out the process in front of fans who have supported us so well over the years.
