I'm excited to see how this team responds. I talked to lot of them in there and looked them in the eye. This is not a team that's gonna quit. I take that personally. We'll see how good we truly are. I'm excited to come in Monday.

They are young but I love them. They play so hard. They are competitors. They're not the biggest guys but they play like it. We're excited to get the recruits in, in the fall, but as far as who's playing right now they're doing a great job. They get better every day. I think they've progressed more than any position. They have gotten better with every practice.

I won't lie to you. Notre Dame is such a fun place to play. I loved every minute of it, uh, except for when we weren't making plays.
defensive lacking plays secondary
I think that's what we've been lacking from a defensive standpoint. We've got a lot of young players, especially in the secondary who made some big plays and we need to keep that going.
definitely focused learning open scheme takes ways
Defensively, I think we have a long ways to go, obviously. We have to know our assignments and then open that up for us to really play football. We're really focused on what we need to do. We have a long ways to go with this new scheme. It takes a while to not only know the scheme, but to play it well. There are so many little things you have to know. We're learning a lot each day and we're definitely getting better. But learning a new scheme definitely takes time.

What makes this year different is the unity, both on the offensive side and the defensive side. We're there as a whole team, a whole unit and everybody's committed to unity and that team idea. It's great to see that on both sides of the ball. We all put a lot of time in during the summer. It's amazing to see that go out on the field. We're more confident in ourselves and in our teammates. We have more trust. It's about helping our team.
