guy interest move
He's out there -- we have some interest in him. We'll see how much interest he has in us. That being said, I'm not a hypothetical guy and I don't like to speculate. We'll try and get him signed. If we can't get him signed, we'll move on.
defense happened kept needed pitching played victory
Not a lot happened offensively, but we just kept grinding, kept pitching well, played defense when we needed to. But we pitched our way to that victory today.
change drops good pickup pleasant tilt velocity
He has been a very pleasant pickup for us. He has velocity (92-95 mph) on his fastball, tilt on his slider, a pretty good change for left-handers and every once in a while he drops that hook. He's made an impression.
again game guys hot nice road running seen start victory
We had a lot of guys just running hot, and we were running hot to start the game again tonight. That's a nice come-from-behind victory on the road for us. I've seen a lot of road games.
bit effort forth four road speaks win
For us to win four consecutive road series, especially with this group, speaks a little bit about the effort being put forth and the results.
against bona everywhere pitchers played power reason until
We think he will be a bona fide power guy. He has played against left-handed pitchers everywhere he has been until this point. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to do it here.
ball bottom care degree lose point spring training
I never like to lose a ball game, but the degree of care in spring training isn't the same. You never want to be at the bottom at any point in time.
appreciate bit extra flash hand high hold lap shake smile taking tradition
That is a tradition I hold in high esteem. Taking a lap around to shake a hand or flash a smile is just a little bit extra to show we appreciate what (the fans) do for us.
best bring expect game pace sports whether
His demeanor, his rhythm, the pace of game -- all of that is what you expect and what you need from your No. 1 starter. That's something he can bring every night, whether his best stuff's with him or not.
above command fall game good history issues line pitchers wonder
He got off to a good run, but his command has become a little more inconsistent of late. He's got a history of issues with command. If his command doesn't get to be above average, he will fall in the line of a lot of pitchers who will show you a good game once in a while, and then you wonder why they don't have more success.
best catcher defensive watch
If you watch the game, you know why. He's the best defensive catcher we have had here. Defensively, he is a playmaker . . .
bit expect fired fly focused last letting
They were all just fired up and letting it fly last year, which is what you expect out of young kids. Now they're a little bit more focused and not in such a hurry.
behind best counts early game stuff winning
His counts got cleaner. He started with an inconsistent command, behind in counts. He got better as the game went on. There's better there, but that's winning without your best stuff early and then tightening up as you go along.
good mind worry
Not in my mind is there anything to worry about; he'll be good to go.
