dream good room talent
Like I said, we're going to have a good year. We have too much talent in that room to dream small.
everybody guy hit mound swings today took
Their guy was really good. It wasn't anything else. Everybody that took the mound today was really good. They pitched well, hit their spots. We took our swings and didn't come up with anything.
capable guys pressure shows takes
That's not the way it is. I think it takes some pressure off of him. And it shows those guys what they are capable of collectively.
ability confidence game needed outfield
He showed us what we needed to see to have confidence in his ability to put him in the game at any time, at any place in the outfield or as part of the lineup.
last might next tired
Because there might not be a next time. You get tired of next time. You need to do it this time. We said a lot of 'get 'em next time' last year.
arm spinning
Spinning out of his delivery. Most of the times when he misses, it's (to his) arm side.
case choose hit pitches todd
It wasn't just a case of Todd not getting pitches to hit, that is way too simplistic. That was part of it. Sometimes, of course, they're going to choose not to pitch to him. He had pitches to hit. He just didn't hit them. He'll be the first one to tell you that.
ability corner fought gray hairs himself painted pitch
He painted himself in a corner and fought his way out. That showed some pitch ability. One, some fortitude, two, and some more gray hairs on the manager, three.
areas base hard improve motion obviously spinning target tight work
One of the areas (Freeman) has had to target and work hard to improve on are (pitches) tight on him and things spinning away from him. Obviously we'd like to get him on base and see if we can get him in motion a little bit.
continue gone hold months onto
Things have gone his way, but the thing I will continue to hold onto is where was it for the two months it wasn't there?
bringing interest invited starting
He's not going to be invited back to be a part of the starting rotation. We have interest in bringing him back, but it's only in the bullpen.
address bit issue next quick rock throw walks
Obviously, the one inning got away from him. He didn't throw strikes. He can fine-tune that, and for him to take the next step, that's an issue he's going to have to address this season. It's always been a little bit of a rock in his shoe, the walks at times, especially the quick ones, the four-pitch ones.
continues good improve offensive optimistic players reason
Our young players give us reason to be optimistic for the future. Holliday continues to improve and should become a good offensive player.
corner paint people strike
He has that strikeout pitch. When you can strike people out you can paint yourself into a corner because you have that way to get out of it.
