basketball difference gap larger neutral opportunity perceives played public schools smaller
When we have an opportunity to play the larger schools, they see the difference is just not there. Basketball is a home-and-road sport and, traditionally, the big schools have always played at home. Now when the smaller schools get them on a neutral court, the gap is not what the public perceives it to be.
appreciate excuse players shown talk time worst
I talk to the players all the time about not making excuses. I'm probably the worst at making excuses. You've just got to keep going. The players have shown a lot of resiliency, and I appreciate that.
We have no complaints. We had our opportunities, we just didn't get it done.
hard misses prepared senior tough
He misses playing. He prepared really hard for his senior year. It has been tough on him.
contain decent felt might opportunity zone
He's had some big games. We felt like the zone might give us the opportunity to contain him. For the most part, it did a decent job.
balance gone good great six sure teams
We've gone through years where we've had really good teams at the top, but I'm not sure we've had a balance of six teams like this year. I'm not sure we have one great team, but we have six really good teams.
brian business job kansas next obviously opportunity ready realize state step time
Brian has been ready for this opportunity for a long time. He's always done an outstanding job for me at Creighton, Kansas State and Marshall. Obviously I'd like to keep him with me, but in this business you realize that everyone's time comes to step up to that next level, and I really think it's time for Brian.
beat fortunate good shot
We just shot it better than they did. They're a good team, and I feel awfully fortunate to beat them twice.
games knowing ncaa noses point program
We're disappointed we're not in the NCAA tournament, knowing that one or two games was the difference. That really makes you disappointed. But our program will never be at the point where we can look our noses down at the NIT.
good hold job shots sure time
Of the 15 shots he took, I'm not sure how many of them were good looks. We did a good job contesting his shots. Any time you hold him under 10 points, you have a good shot to win.
care committee complain fine job talk teams whining
There will be no whining or complaining from us. We had our opportunity. We didn't take care of business. The committee does a fine job every year. We're not going to complain or talk about any teams that got in.
whining
There will be no whining or complaining from us.
ended felt win
You're always disappointed but I wasn't shocked. I felt we were probably a win or two short. That's the way it ended up.
great success summer tail worked
Anthony worked his tail off. He had a great spring, summer and fall. So he's had some success because of it.
