carries confident european experience finding high himself knows league less level matter minor niche played players positive seems separated situation typical
He's been a real positive guy. Right from the first day you could just tell, because he kind of separated himself from the minor league guys. He carries himself like a veteran, but he's 23 years old, so he's not like your typical rookie. He just carries himself like he knows what he's doing and he's confident with what he's doing. Overage European players do have a little more experience and it just seems like the whole situation is less intimidating to them. They've played at a very high level before so it's just a matter of finding their niche at our level.
funny players puts smart work
He puts the work in. It's funny how smart players find a way to get smarter. That's what he does.
bail challenged decided happen instead players rest
Instead we challenged him and decided to see what would happen and we challenged the rest of the players to bail him out.
execution face game good hard hopefully lose move neutral played players puck slap top turned zone
Hopefully this is a good slap in the face for our players. We turned the puck over in the neutral zone 30 times. When you lose execution its hard to get it back. I'm disappointed in the way our top players played and execution. It's just one game and we have to move on.
calm fixing gets mind perfectly players prepares ready sticks talk whether
He's just so calm for a rookie. You talk about players getting ready for a game, whether it's taping sticks or fixing their equipment. But he gets his mind ready. He prepares himself, and he's perfectly comfortable in those situations.
competing early earn people players spots themselves whittle
It's early and things will whittle themselves out. Players are competing for spots and minutes, and at the end of the day, the people who earn the spots are going to get it.
deal people players positive pushes success tradition
There's a lot of tradition in this organization, and expectations are very high. The players who come in here deal with those expectations in a positive way, and it pushes people forward. Success is something that is earned, and our players have that kind of mentality.
certain found goes guys niche people players veteran washed work
Sometimes players find a niche with a certain team, and he's found that niche. It just goes to show that those veteran guys who people think are washed up, in the right circumstances, it can work out perfectly.
consider fighting forcing game job players primary rules skate taking teams using whose
I like what they're doing with the rules. The rules are taking players out of the game whose primary job is fighting and forcing teams to consider using players who can skate and play.
players rally team
That was one of those the players really grasped. We need some more like that from him, and our team will rally around that.
apply knows players willing
A lot of players are well-coached, but the player has to be willing to take it into the game. He does that. He knows how to apply himself.
exhibition mind penalty shot
He scored on a penalty shot and I think he was 3-for-3 or 4-for-4 in the exhibition season. I think he's 14-for-14. That's mind boggling.
bonding either greatest helps maximum mix performance process strengths wins
One of the greatest strengths we have is we are a team. That doesn't get you wins either but it helps the process of bonding together. You mix that with maximum performance and a lot of effort, and you can be dangerous.
energetic game good nice push rewarded
They play a very energetic style, and they do a lot of good things that push the game along. But it would be nice to see them get rewarded every now and then.
