He did a great job. He just kind of teased the strike zone, throwing borderline pitches and making you chase them. It shows you that if you have good pitching, it stops good hitting.
Before everyone anoints this the greatest offense ever, let us play a little while first. The names don't win games. You have to go out there and perform, and we really haven't swung the bats well.
Santana did a great job. We scored those couple of runs early, but after that we didn't do much damage off of him.
He's done it for us before. He pitched well. He pitched well for us. He didn't do it as consistently as he probably would have liked to, but he's got great stuff and he mixes it up.
If we beat them, it still doesn't make up for what happened last year. They've got great defense and a bullpen that's one of the best. They do all the little things. I think they're a pest for everybody. Yeah, we've had some rough elimination games there. You remember them, but you don't really think about them while you're playing. We've been eliminated in other places.
Look at all the Yankee greats over the years. You figure at least one of them would win one.
He seems not to be bothered by anything, and that will help him here. Obviously he's a great player. But he's not going to have any trouble adjusting to New York after being in Boston.
It's an opportunity to try and expand the game globally. I think there's going to be a lot of interest, especially in some of the countries that haven't come over to play before. I think it's great for the game.
As of now, as a team and as an organization, we can't think about Rocket. He hasn't made up his mind. Let him decide first. We need to focus on the guys that we have now. We have a great pitching staff.
Baseball in the past has taken a back seat to some of the other sports in terms of expansion. This is a huge step. You've got the players' association and the owners coming together on this. I think it's a great idea. People have questioned the timing of it, but when you think about it, when else are you going to have it?
People say this is the greatest offense ever. But let us play awhile. Names don't win games. You have to play the games.
They're a completely different team (than Tampa Bay).
He's that way in the dugout during games,
(The fans) were with him until he got picked off second.
