achieve appreciate coaching forward given help job known looking nick opportunity position respect staff time utmost
I've known Nick for a very long time and have the utmost respect for the job he has done at every coaching position he has held. I appreciate the opportunity he has given me, and I'm looking forward to working with him and his staff in any way I can to help the organization achieve its goals.
basically defense gets nickel offense stay
Their defense really complements their offense. The offense gets up on you, and then the defense is able to basically stay in the nickel and really get after the quarterback.
ankle high month start
A high ankle sprain can take a while (to heal). We've got a month before we start the season. We'll just have to see what the MRI shows.
affected ball couple forward help hopefully move passing ran seems third trying work
I thought we ran the ball well and our first- and second-down passing was much improved. It seems like you have something you have to go to work on every week. That is just kind of where we are right now. Our third down was affected by our pass protection. We are trying to look at a couple different combinations to hopefully help us move forward in that area.
defense excited explosive gets goes improve potential season stays year
I think you'll see a more explosive defense. And I think you'll see a defense that, if it stays healthy, gets better as the season goes along. Our defense has the potential to improve as the year goes on. They're excited to get out there and play.
deal effort felt focused game last playoff plays teams watch
I think that a big part of this game is how you deal with distractions. I've always felt that when you watch teams in the last game of the season, especially if they are out of the playoff race, it comes down to the most focused team and who plays with the most effort comes out on top. It's a challenge.
tough year
It's been a tough year. You never want to have another year like this one.
came execution match played
I'm very discouraged about the way we played tonight. We came in with the right intentions, but our execution didn't match up with our intentions.
coming gotten handled losses needed played proud row stronger team three
I'm proud of the way our team played today. We are coming off of three heartbreaking last-second losses in a row and we needed this win. We've gotten better and we have become stronger because we've handled the disappointment of those losses the right way.
anybody field guy hard league quite team tremendous
He's been a tremendous contributor to that Colts team this year. He's a guy that you always know is on the field because he's got the kind of explosiveness to make plays. So it's hard to think of anybody in the league that's quite like him right now.
business coach football head heart job obviously soul tough understand win work
Well this obviously has been a long, tough year. I'm disappointed that things had to end this way. I understand this business and I understand your job as a head football coach is to win games. Obviously when you put your heart and soul into something and it doesn't work out the way that you wanted and anticipated, then you're disappointed.
against challenge defense focused last players playing week work
The challenge this week is that we're playing against the No. 1 defense from last season. When the players come back to work Wednesday, they'll be zeroing in on the Steelers. We'll be focused on what we need to do to be more efficient.
best decisions difficulty enables experience gives perspective teacher totally understand whether
I just think it gives you a totally different perspective, enables you to kind of see the big picture. So I think you understand why some decisions are being made. You understand the difficulty of making the decisions, whether it be personnel-wise, scheme-wise or staff-wise. To me, experience is the best teacher for any of us.
allow continue defense five giving job plays runs third unit work
The defense did an outstanding job on third down. Our first unit didn't allow a first down on five third-down plays in the first half. The thing we've got to continue to work on is not giving up the big play. They had runs of 23, 21 and 15 yards.
