We know we're a couple of shots and defensive plays away from being a great team.
We know we can win. That's what we're all here for. . . . This is my third year here and it's like it's my third different team, but we can win.
There are a lot of good teams coming into our house, but it is our home and we need to defend our home.
There is a side of me what wants to go, and there is a side of me that of course wants to win the gold. But there is a side of me that wants to make sure that things are different this time around.
We ran plays to get him the ball, but also, us as a team have been waiting 18 games to get him the ball. So you don't have to worry about us not looking for him. We really want to get him back to his All-Star form.
This win is important for our confidence. Any game where we're down, we can always look back to this game and know that we did it against a good team and can pull it out.
We're still looking. We hope it will come. If it doesn't come soon, we'll have an early vacation.
We've got it now, you know? We've got what we need to do to win.
We've got enough firepower to win without him. If one person goes down, the other guys have to step up.
It's all a win-now philosophy. We've got some old guys on this team. Gary (Payton) ain't got five, six more years left. Shaq ain't got five, six more years left. That is the reason the trade was made. We'd be kidding ourselves if we thought the trade was for us to grow together for the next three years. No, it's not. We understand that.
It's no secret that the Bulls have no one to guard him down low, so he can dominate the game that way. Also, he's in great shape. He's really in playoff mode and we want him to be. We want him to lead this team.
It's just getting familiar with what we're trying to do. I'm sure you'll see better spacing each time in the pre-season.
Watching him play and watching him talk about the seasons that they had is motivating. I grew up watching it, so to hear the inside scoop of the championships they won and watching him play is a motivation.
We're going to miss Eddie a lot, the defense he brought and the way he chased guys around the court. I want to see who's going to do that.
