Eliot Laurence Spitzeris an American politician who served as the 54th Governor of New York from 2007 until his resignation on March 17, 2008. Following his eight year term as Attorney General of New York, Spitzer was elected governor in 2006, succeeding three-term incumbent George Pataki. When the United States was founded, the very idea of a nation premised on democratic principles of freedom and tolerance was viewed by the vast majority of the world as an experiment doomed to fail. Dictatorships, monarchies, and theocracies had for many centuries ruled the world.
While 2013 will not see a major national election, we can be sure that most Republicans will obstruct and some Democrats will appease.
To survive, the GOP needs to invite people in, not shut them out.
Facts matter. Science matters. Reason matters. Mitt Romney has shown an inability to respect any of the three. President Barack Obama not only respects them, he relies on them. He is an overwhelming and unquestioned choice to continue as president.
For me, journalism has been more a matter of projecting a particular approach to covering policies, to covering issues. It was a continuation of what I tried to do in government.
I view Al Jazeera as a very serious journalistic outfit. They have proven to observers around the world that they are serious and objective. They will have to, at a P.R. level, prove to the American public that that is the case. And I think that over time they will succeed at doing that.
The only delay, ... is that when you are dealing with 50 states, 12 investment banks, a significant number of regulatory entities, simply getting sign-offs, drafting agreements on stray words takes a bit of time.
We would not permit this type of conduct in connection with the sale of cars or washing machines. It is simply unconscionable that it occurred with a critical medical device.
