It's really hard to write personal songs. I'm not good at writing ditties because as far as writing hit songs that you pitch to the national artist, I just don't write that way.
When I was at high school, I thought it'd be nice to go into Air Force Academy and fly jets, but that was a very brief dream. Ha, ha. I'm too lanky to fit in the cockpit.
I don't think I set out to have a career in female groups, but it's just kind of happened, and by nature of having worked with my sister - growing up with a sister who also plays, and being in communication with other female musicians.
People put stock in someone being in a 'girl group,' but we don't say that a band is a 'man group.'
It is amazing what people feel they have the right to tell you to your face when you're famous.
I think soldiers are not just one homogenous group, just like Americans aren't. They all have different feelings about the war.
Especially in the Dixie Chicks, everyone wants you to play a role. Natalie was the feisty one. Martie was the nice one 'cause she smiles all the time onstage, and I was the quiet one.
They say I have the ugliest feet in the world. I don't care if they say it - I'm not gonna hide 'em!
I did have role models, but most of them were male.
I was on my way to the gym. It was incredible. I was screamin at cars, 'That's me on the radio!
Some people still believe you should just fall in line with whats going on - and thats scary. It makes a mockery of freedom of speech.
Constant contact is what people require these days. Its tough on artists.
I want to be playing music, and I want to be a great mom, and I want to do everything.
I ride horses once in a while, but Im no expert. I hold on for dear life.
