defensive forcing practice principles second sticking team
We had defensive lapses in the second half, only not as many. It's a will. You have to want to do it. It's sticking to the principles we practice every day. Sometimes if the team comes out and does the very things you're forcing them to do and they do well, you have to give them credit.
adjustment anyone best definitely everybody fill leading player second
It's definitely going to be an adjustment without Larry. He's our second leading scorer, our second best player and our best perimeter defender. I don't think anyone can fill in for Larry, but everybody has to do a little more.
acted few given grasp league people produce sure three work
There are so few people who can come into this league at 18 years old and be able to grasp what is going on and ... put in all the work and still produce and get so much better in the first three years. He's done the right things. I'm not so sure how I would have acted if I was given $100 million.
bad queen shoot sister yesterday
My sister was on me really bad yesterday (to shoot more). The queen had spoken, so I had to come in and shoot.
changed missing player playing rather secure shots stopping stops tough trap tried
We had changed up how we were playing the pick-and-roll. We tried to trap him. We were able to get stops and secure the rebounds. He's a tough player to guard. It was more of (Carter) missing shots rather than us stopping him.
entertainment guess guys rules score
To me, the rules are made for guys to score more. And I guess that's where the entertainment comes in.
allowed apologize coach decisions dwell fans moving players team wants
We're moving on, ... Things happen, unfortunately. I apologize to coach. I apologize to the fans and the team so there is no need to dwell on it. It's an unfortunate incident. It was a misunderstanding, but he's still the coach and he's still allowed to make the decisions that he wants to make and players got to live with it.
catch everybody gaining good knew tough
Gaining the home-court advantage. That's what (the goal) has always been. (Detroit) jumped out to such a good start, everybody knew it was going to be tough to catch that team.
focus game highs next
We just have to focus and concentrate on game two. This is just one game. There are going to be highs and lows. We just have to focus and concentrate on the next game.
affect hype passion people performance whoever
What people say, it shouldn't matter. They're going to hype whoever they're going to hype - some deservedly so. But it shouldn't affect one player's performance or passion for the game.
guy team wins
Every team that wins has a guy like Andy.
larry pushing run tempo trying whenever
They are pushing the tempo more. Whenever you do that, you get more possessions. Under Larry Brown, they were more of an opportunistic fast-break team. Now, they are trying to run more.
flow game hurt within
Nowadays, if you can't do it within the flow of the game you can't do it. It was a one-on-one incident, we're not out there to hurt someone.
believes coach deal great guys larry tells willing
Coach Brown's thing is, he should never have to coach effort. Guys should try hard. He should never have to coach that. That's one thing I know he believes in. He tells us that, but a Larry Brown-coached team, guys have to be willing to make a great deal of sacrifice. If you don't have that, it's not going to go very well.
