far okay spot
As far as I know now I'm okay in that spot with Edgar.
area good gray horse improve key physically reason strong
There's a little gray area there. But physically he's a big, strong horse and he'll relax. The good ones improve from 2 to 3. That's the key to any of them, and I see no reason to think he won't.
bring fine gate good next pop ready sure three
Most trainers have a style. When you haven't raced in three months, in my opinion, I think it's a good idea to pop them out of the gate before you bring them back. Now I know he's doing fine right now. I'm sure that we'll be ready to try next week.
chance gave happy jerry since time
It was the first time Jerry was on him since the Hopeful, and he was pretty happy the way he worked. We gave him the chance to lug in and he never even thought about it. Hopefully, he won't do that in the afternoons.
area bit far gray horse mentally run time whether
Any time you've got a young horse and you're going two turns, there's a little bit of gray area there whether he could run that far mentally or physically.
easy edgar gate looking pop work
It was what we were looking for. Just an easy work to let Edgar get a feel for him. I wanted to let him pop out of the gate and just take it easy from there. Nothing too hard.
fun
It's not a lot of fun (winning by disqualification), but they (stewards) probably made the right call.
fun
He was impeded a little bit. It's not a lot of fun (winning by disqualification), but they probably made the right call.
bench came fast good horse last missed race ran sharp since start worked
I thought he worked well. I think he came out of his last race as good as a horse could come out of a race like that, especially considering it was his first start off the bench and they ran fast over a fast racetrack. He hasn't missed an oat and has been very sharp since the race.
grade time win
He's still pretty green, but any time you win a Grade I at Saratoga, it's pretty good.
according blue gate happened leaving starting
According to Dr. Hunt, it had to have happened in the starting gate or leaving the gate in the Blue Grass. Nothing happened to him at the barn.
good happy
You know, we're in it to win. But I thought (First Samurai) did everything right, about as good as he could do, other than win. I was very happy with the race.
chose cup reason road
We chose that road to the Breeders' Cup because it was around one turn. There was no reason to try anything else.
area good gray great improves mentally mind proof run unusually whether
The proof is always in the pudding. He's got a great mind, an unusually good mind for a young horse. He'll relax. He's not a run-off. If he improves from a 2-year-old to a 3-year-old, he's got a chance. There's a little gray area there, whether he can run that far, mentally and physically.
