Frank Robinsonis an American former Major League Baseballoutfielder and manager. He played for five teams from 1956 to 1976, and became the only player to win league MVP honors in both the National and American Leagues. Hector has been a nice, pleasant surprise with another great effort on his part tonight. He has pitched four good starts. I don't know how he does it at this stage of the season. He seems to thrive on it.
He was moving around good out there on the field. We have no concerns about his knee, but you never know until you get out there.
I think you have to ... take an MRI on every pitcher that you acquire in a trade or free agency - the elbows, knees and shoulders. That's the only way you're going to be able to look at the elbow and shoulder and knees, and get a pretty good idea of what's in there.
He has the green light when he's up there leading off an inning. He's a good fastball pitcher. It's up to him if he wants to take a pitch.
Nobody is going to win a job today, tomorrow or the first week of Spring Training. So everybody settle down and do what you are capable of doing. Get yourself ready for the long haul. Mostly everybody in that room doesn't have a real good chance to make that club. There are just too many people in there.
He was what I call a very good general manager,
He's a good hitter, he's a good athlete. We've got to start treating him like a hitter.
He's established himself to the point that you expect something good when he goes out there.
It was good to see him have a good offensive day and a good defensive day. That has to really make him feel good and get him up on his toes a little bit.
This is a step in the right direction. This sends out a good message to the fans and to the rest of the players that if we feel like a player ... is going to be good for the ball club in the future, we won't be afraid to lock them up.
Brooks never impressed me because you were accustomed to him making the plays. This kid reminds me a lot of Brooks on those plays. Brooks owned those things. Brooks was very good on those slow rollers coming in.
You not going to win too many games if you can't keep the ball in ballpark. We are not doing a good job with that, either. It has to get better.
Zach Day has good enough stuff to win at this level. He's shown flashes, but he hasn't put it together over a long period of time.
There's a lot of camaraderie on this ball club already. In spring training it's been a good clubhouse. Believing in themselves and playing with excitement, I think that all comes from winning. I think this team has that ability to do that, to come together as a team.
