I was looking at Patterson and I had the feeling that he wasn't right, ... I didn't like his mannerisms on the mound. Since he didn't say anything, I thought he was OK and he would get himself straightened out.
Actually, I wouldn't mind another week down here. Not to play games, but just to work on fundamentals. We didn't win many games, but, maybe just in the last week, we started looking a little better. Before that, we looked terrible.
I'm looking forward to when it counts to see how this team reacts. I think we'll handle it very well.
I'm just on the side looking at it, the runs are going up on the board. But I don't know what it is or why.
If you want to be realistic, you say, 'What would it take? A miracle.' Well, miracles happen. Not too often, but they do happen once in a while. But, realistically, yeah, we're looking at it, and probably it's insurmountable.
It was a 4-2 road trip I was looking at it. I forgot all about it. One thousand wins means you've been around a while and you've had a few good teams.
I think we had a little bit of help tonight,
I think it's very important to everybody to try to finish over .500,
It gets tougher every year. I feel like I have the individual's future in the palm of my hand, and I just don't feel comfortable with that kind of power.
Jeff Nelson and I have never quite gotten along as long as he's been in the league, ... I just know there has been tension.
I said the other day that they are going to let us hang around here and let us win this thing,
I remember my first Opening Day very well. We lost 4-2 to the Cardinals on a two-run home run. I remember my first at-bat, a double, missed a home run by a couple of feet. I had an intentional walk and another hit and went 2-for-3, and I thought I was on my way to the Hall of Fame.
We don't seem to be able to handle pitchers we don't know. First-time guys, we seem to struggle with them. We're just not swinging the bats very well right now.
We are the only team to start the season with 21 losses, so we are not going to be off the hook,
