We know why we came up short today and hopefully we can take advantage of 12 hits and score more runs the next time we get 12 hits. I hope it's not August.
Would it be fair to put him out there ahead of these other guys who have played those positions for quite some time?
It was a very well-played game. It all started with pitching and it all started with defense.
He is just out there throwing. He's just not pitching. He thinks throwing harder is better. It's not. He has to get back to pitching and locating his pitches. You just can't just stand out there throw fastballs by people.
The thing about the pitching staff right now is it's taxed. It's overtaxed. It's tired.
You can't keep going like this and saying, 'Well, it's early. It's going to come around.' We need to get results and we need to get them starting tomorrow.
Seemed like just yesterday we were having fun.
No, I'm not concerned. If you're concerned, then you're worried about something, and I'm not worried about anything.
You can't let that happen. Those things come back to haunt you.
It seems like every team has a guy that is fortunate that the team scores for (him), and there's that hard-luck guy they don't score for.
I don't see why you reporters keep confusing Brooks and me. Can't you see that we wear different numbers.
It was unbelievable the way he pitched. His record should have been better. It took some growing up on the mound, understanding the situation, the pitches and the sequences of attacking the hitter. He is kind of strong-willed. We had to kind of fight through that wall of his to see it our way.
He's just doing the things that we thought he had to do. He's doing the things he did in spring training and he's done in batting practice. Now he's taking it to the game. Has he got it completely down? No. But he's certainly got it down to the extent that he's a tough out.
He is a warrior, and I am not going to take him out there and interrupt things out there on that field.
